Strategic Housing and Employment Land Availability Assessment (SHELAA)

The Strategic Housing and Employment Land Availability Assessment (SHELAA) identifies sites in the Borough which may be suitable for housing or employment development. The assessment considers the location, potential constraints, deliverability and potential number of houses or employment land that could be built for each submitted site.

The SHELAA provides an evidence base of potential sites to inform new planning policy documents. It does not make policy decisions on future housing or employment allocations.

The inclusion of sites in the SHELAA does not mean they are likely to be developed, or that the Council would view applications on these sites favourably.

The Council has recently updated its SHELAA

The Council continues to accept 'Call for Sites' submission as part the new Local Plan, which will be kept on file and included in future SHELAA's. For more information and / or to submit a site, please visit the Consultations 2017 webpage.
