The Society of Local Council Clerks have produced a video aimed at school students, to raise awareness of what local councils are responsible for and inviting students to find out more about them.

Local councils and their clerks are the people who help keep our towns, villages, and communities running smoothly.

This year’s theme, “Empowering Change,” highlights how local councils are the first tier of democracy, and how meaningful change often begins right on our doorstep.
Council clerks play a key role in supporting these local bodies, ensuring that decisions are made effectively and services are delivered. It’s a great time to help students understand how grassroots democracy works and the professionals who keep it moving.
To support this, the Society for Local Council Clerks have produced a video, aimed at students, giving a brief introduction to the work of local councils and their clerks. We hope you find it a useful resource to share with your students.
