M6 road closure both directions 22 -23 September - between junctions 14 and 15 - bridge demolition

Published: 21 August 2018

Forthcoming 24 hour closure of the M6 motorway between junction 14 and junction 15 and how this will affect you.

As you may be aware, we’re upgrading the M6 from junctions 13 to 15 to a smart motorway. To enable this, we need to demolish Creswell Home Farm Bridge, just north of junction 14. The bridge is no longer in use and is too narrow to allow for an extra permanent lane.

We will undertake the work on a weekend when traffic levels are lowest.  We are hoping to complete the work in 12 hours but it could take up to 24 hours given the complex nature of the demolition. We will close the motorway at 8pm on Saturday 22 September 2018 and reopen it on Sunday 23 September 2018 as soon as work allows.

For regular updates on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 September we ask that customers visit the Highways England Twitter feed.
